The trick to the cold
It was actually a chilly day in the photos where S is wearing overalls and a white short-sleeved t-shirt. Despite it being spring, we wanted to give the impression of a warm day, even though we were both battling goosebumps. We used a Forsythia bush as our background, hoping its bright yellow flowers would create the illusion of a sunny, warm spring day. The sunlight was also in our favor, and we made the most of it to enhance the feeling of warmth in the photos. Although S had a jacket with her, we chose to feature the sunlight and vibrant flowers to convey a warmer spring vibe, as we had other shots of her with the jacket.
With time constraints, we couldn't explore many beautiful locations in the city. However, one of the joys of photographing people is that you don’t need an exquisite backdrop. Often, we’re not surrounded by picturesque views, and the focus is on capturing the person. For this shoot, S and I were by a row of apartments on a narrow street filled with cars. The emphasis remained on S, proving that a stunning background isn’t always necessary.
Most of the photos were candid. We chatted and shared laughs, and I captured her spontaneous moments of joy. For example, the photo of her looking up at the sky with her hair pulled back and arms folded was taken while she was contemplating another pose. Many of our favorite shots were those where she wasn’t expecting the camera, capturing her genuine expressions and unposed moments.
The photos where she is in a black dress is from another day. I just included them in this series.
